Tracking. days 34-35
at THE BANK. Burbank , CA. October 19-20, 2011
tracked a few more songs with an amazing group of musicians. The amount of trust these guys lent me was humbling. inspiring. empowering.
we rocked. rolled. laughed. played. grooved. loved.
hard.
(songs recorded: “Still Be Loving You”, ”Which Way Home”, “Our Day”, “Us”)

laughingsamdice asked: Heard you were an Ennio fan. Favorite film that he scored?
This isnt a weird off the grid choice, but my favorite is actually “The Untouchables”. Yours?
rosscharland asked: I saw you play a while back in the DC area. Great show! I wanted to ask you what kind of pedal were you using for the kickdrum sound? Im looking for something like that when Im playing on my own. Thanks.
It’s actually not a pedal. It’s a Shure Beta 91 microphone. I tap directly on the mic
I would rather punch myself in the crotch everyday for 12 weeks. HARD (Taken with instagram)
Notable for what ISN’T there. Not a cloud in the sky. (Taken with instagram)
marvinpascua asked: is your residency at hotel cafe going to be acoustic or full band?
also that song you played at hotel cafe about your unborn song was lyrically flawless. loved it.
I think it’ll be a little bit of both. I’ll do some solo, some with band, some with just me and Sean Hurley, maybe….
highspeedt asked: Who is your favourite film composer? (If you're in to that sort of music!!)
Although, he isn’t solely a film composer, Ryuichi Sakamoto is probably my favorite composer. I love his scores, particularly “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence”. If I have to pick a Film Composer, I’ll take Ennio Morricone
vctralan asked: I want to be famous. I can be famous. I know you might get that a lot from musicians that aren't very good, but I think I'm an exception. Most importantly, I want my name and music to be forever remembered. I would greatly appreciate advice.
I thought for a long time before answering your question because I want to tell you something that you might find helpful and I don’t want to come off mean spirited.
It’s a loaded question though, because:
A. I’m not famous, and
B. I don’t know that I ever want to be famous.
I suppose FAME is okay as long as it is a byproduct of being good at your craft or touching people’s lives in some way, but FAME on it’s own is all icing, no cake.
At the same time, if you really are looking for fame only, I don’t want you to think I’m belittling your pursuit. I’m just not your guy.
As for trying to be good and touching people’s lives…..I try to peel back as many layers of cliche and bravado as I can without ruining the meaning of the songs I write. (If you peel away ALL the layers of the onion, there’s no onion left.) I’m trying to find new ways to say things that we all feel, but can’t express. I’m trying to bare as much of my soul in song as I can. People seem to connect with that. That’s what I know.
If you want fame, tackle Paris Hilton.
If you want the other stuff, tackle YOU.
